Salmonella

As the recent nationwide salmonella outbreak took various peanutbutter products off the shelves of utah stores, many wondered when they would be able to eat their favorite peanut butter treats.  Marilee Paulson of the Utah Department of Health says that most of the contaminated peanutbutter was supplied by the Peanut Corporation of America, one of just a handfull of major peanutbutter producers in the country.

On February 13th of this year, the PCA filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. As it stands, the PCA cannot talk to customers who had purchased potentially contaminated peanutbutter about how to properly dispose of their products. Customers who purchased peanutbutter and peanutbutter products that came from these Georgia and Texas plants should contact the FDA about proper disposal.
